Crazy Work Trip - Week 2
Posted by on Wednesday, January 22, 2003 - 06:14 PM
Paul Made it through the second and final week of the work trip! This time it was not as cold, and finished early. Monday, flew out of Fort Lauderdale to Orlando. The flight was so quick that the stewardesses did not finish serving drinks, and had to run for their seats as the plane landed. Got a workout in and went to bed. Tuesday, arrived at the facility at 6 AM, and got to work. No heat in the warehouse (but that is nothing new). Did the training, these guys were the brightest of all sites. Finished up and went out to Bahama Breeze. Its a closely guarded secret that January 14 is my birthday. The company treated me to a couple beers and Jagermeisters. Wednesday was the last day in the Orlando warehouse, off to Tampa. Thursday was my last day on this wild trip. The Tampa warehouse was really small, so I finished up ahead of schedule and caught a plane back to Fort Lauderdale. The End.

Move South, young man.

Paul Or something like that... Thanks to the parents, got most of the stuff down in Miramar. The website for my apartment is http://www.standrewsplacejmg.com/. Anywayz, I like my new apartment, and the shorter drive. On another note, job situation is a little weird, and I am burnt out.

Shooting star....
Posted by on Friday, October 11, 2002 - 12:44 PM
Paul Saw a shooting star on the way to work this morning - it came in pretty low and was heading for Miami. My thoughts at that time - I could use another 3 hours of sleep. Oh well, its Friday!

Return to Fort Misery
Posted by on Thursday, August 08, 2002 - 04:31 AM
Paul Spent last weekend down in Fort Myers - boy, what a weekend!
  • Happy Birthday to my middle brother, Dave! He just turned 21, but since he goes to FSU, I doubt his new freedoms are anything new ;)
  • Got my haircut - I wouldn't mention this normally, but,,,,, this was more like a scalping (another FSU reference...), I went from 7 week long hair, to a number 2 clipper, not exactly what I had in mind... For a guy, this should be trivial, but dam, I can't get a decent haircut in South Florida.
  • Got the Explorer vacuumed, washed, and waxed, thanks Dan! It really needed it.
  • My precious new phone didn't have service - friggin VoiceStream doesn't have any coverage in Lee County (Fort Myers) area - I had great coverage across Alligator Ally (I75), till just past Naples - go figure. I want some consolidation with the U.S. GSM cellular service providers (VoiceStream, AT&T, Cingular, etc), the individual networks are too small compared to CDMA (Sprint, Verizon).
  • Worked out at Gold's with Dave, he gave me a few pointers. With Dan's help, I got my distance mile down to almost my high school time... Time to start signing up for road races.
  • The parents gave me a framed poster from the Monterey Bay Aquarium of my favorite exhibit, Sea Nettles in a black-light tank.

Get pumped up!
Posted by on Thursday, July 25, 2002 - 02:20 PM
Paul Once again, I have to use the "I have been too busy to update my site" excuse. As, of this second, I just got more stuff dumped on me at work, so I will have to make this quick. .... Got myself a membership at Bally Total Fitness, I have out-grown my apartment's gym. So, the next time you see me, I will be all pumped up! On the geek side of things (one must keep balance) I got a new security camera setup in my apartment - I use it to monitor the workers who have to paint my patio. I so have to get my own house soon. anywayz - back to work.

Oh, I shaved that goatee off, might grow it back in a month or so.

T&M
Posted by on Friday, June 07, 2002 - 12:33 AM
Paul Well, I seem to be losing Time and Money - which half explains for my lack of updates. Over committed I am, somethings I will have to fix/drop... On the money side of things, I finally broke down and got an XBOX($/secs) and other cool toys($) - I have been so good this year, and finally I lost control - I think I will blame it on on the time-stress(secs/$)! Enough procrastination, time to write those tech reviews for AllthingsGEEK.

Keys Trip
Posted by on Monday, May 20, 2002 - 09:14 PM
Paul Went on the annual "field trip" with my Mom's Marine Biology class to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo. On the way out we saw the Spiegel Grove sticking out of the water. Should be an interesting reef to dive, if they get it straightened out. The water was a little choppy this time, so here's a picture from last year.

Vegas! (Day 2 and 3)

Paul Yeah, I know I am lazy, I should have put these up last week. Here are some pictures of: the convention hall, the Venetian entrance, and Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. You know the routine, click the image to enlarge.

Of Interest - Vegas is the Disney for adults. All sections of the hotel pass through the casino. The House always has the advantage.
Fun Stuff - Gambling(broke even), free food and drinks, show girls, Jay Leno, attractions.
Some Gripes - Trip too short, no humidity(bring chapstick), annoying Elvis impersonators... Overall the trip was fun, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Vegas! (Day 1)
Posted by on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 - 06:14 PM
Paul Quick update - Out in Las Vegas, staying at the awesome "The Venetian". The "suites" (all of them) are bigger than my first apartment in Boca! Lost a few bucks on slots, but made it back on Craps... A couple of pictures below:
